Meet UNILAG’s genius who bagged 5.0 CGPA, clinched many awards

In the world of academia, David Oluwatomiwa Akanmu stands as a beacon of brilliance, illuminating the exceptional intellectual prowess that Nigerians consistently exhibit globally.

At the 54th convocation ceremonies of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akanmu’s name echoed through the hallowed halls as he claimed the titles of the overall best graduating student, best graduating student in the faculty of Engineering, and best graduating student in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

What makes Akanmu’s achievement truly extraordinary is his Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of a perfect 5.00. Akanmu, however, remains humble, acknowledging that his stellar CGPA may sound unreal on paper.

“My CGPA might sound unreal on paper, but you can read about how I achieved it in my book, Roadmap to 5.0, ” he said via X tweet.

It could be recalled that Aminat Yusuf, a law student at Lagos State University (LASU), achieves a historic milestone, becoming the first undergraduate in 40 years to attain a perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 5.0.

In the 2021/2022 academic session, her stellar academic record earned her a noteworthy cash prize of N500,000, marking an exceptional achievement in the university’s history.
