In recent years, Nigeria has been plagued by a distressing trend as stories of bullying and sexual molestation in secondary schools have sadly become all too common. 

Tragically, many of the victims have endured both physical and mental trauma, and unimaginably, some have even lost their lives. These shocking incidents, which have recently come to light, have deeply disturbed the nation. 



In this report Crisp Nigeria chronicles some past incidents of bullying and sexual harassment in Nigeria schools.

Lead British International School:



A video of a female student of Lead British International School, Abuja, being bullied by her schoolmate has sparked outrage on social media.

On Monday night, an X user, @mooyeeeeeee, called for justice for a female student of the school who was bullied by her classmates.



Alongside a video of the incident, she wrote, “There’s a video I’m about to post. I need you guys to help me get justice for (sic). She was bullied in her school by her classmates at Lead British School, Abuja. Pls make it go viral so she can get justice.”

In one of the videos, the victim was seen being slapped 18 times by another female student while asking “Who broke my heart?”

In another video, she was beaten in one of the school’s empty halls.

Dowen College, Lagos: Sylvester Oromoni – killed

Sylvester Oromoni’s tragic passing on November 30, 2021, followed a harrowing ordeal of sustained internal injuries inflicted by fellow students at Dowen College in Lagos. 

Bullied for resisting pressure to join a cult, Sylvester’s courage stood as a beacon against such coercion. Yet, justice remains elusive, leaving unanswered questions and unresolved grief lingering. there is no update heard of this case.

Chrisland School,  Lagos: 2-year-old girl- defiled 

Pastor Adegboyega Adenekana, a supervisor at Chrisland School in Victoria Garden City (VGC), Lagos, was handed a 60-year sentence. The verdict was delivered by the Lagos Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court in Ikeja under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011. The charges against him involved the sexual assault of a two-year-old girl and an 11-month-old student from the school.

GDSS Tunga, Minna: JSS student – impregnated 

Malam Mohammed Mohammed, a Vice Principal at Government Day Science Secondary School (GDSS), was apprehended and brought to court for impregnating a Junior Secondary School student back in 2017.

Ganmo Arabic  School, Kwara: Students – bullied 

The head of an Arabic school in the Ganmo area of Kwara State was suspended following the emergence of a video showing students being physically punished by their instructors for alleged misconduct. The incident, which involved students attending a birthday party and consuming alcohol, sparked outrage across the country.

In response to the public outcry, the Kwara State Government swiftly launched an investigation and condemned the excessive punishment seen in the video. The commissioner for education announced that a government delegation had visited the Madrasa and decided to suspend the school’s leader.
