From bullying to death threat: What’s happening to Chef Dammy?

Chef Dammy

Damilola Adeparusi, also known as Chef Dammy, who completed a 120 hours cook-a-thon on the 14th of June in a world record attempt shared a cryptic note on her social media handle @dammypas, alleging threats and bullying by “People of God”.

She wrote

” ‘By the time we are done with you, you will not be able to stand on your feet again.’ This was from self-acclaimed ‘people of God’.

The first time the Man of God tried to challenge my God, he failed, then he told me to prepare for war.

Assuming I had died few days ago, people would have understood better what I’ve been facing…I have been living in constant fear for my life…I mean it’s 4 months already.”

Dammy’s continuous bully drama

Chef Dammy in her note spoke of receiving insults, curses, threats, and bullying, but this is not the first time.

She does not seem to have a safe camp as she had suffered bullying from Netizens previously and now her inner circle.

Recall that many netizens at the time of her cook-a-thon were displeased by her world record attempt and did not fail to let it show as they criticised her for failing to let Hilda Baci shine.

@DrEbochinedu on X (formally Twitter) wrote “Typical naija jealousy and pull-him-down mentality is when you can’t even wait for Hilda to collect her certificate…Where were you all the while?”

@vwalkernet “Both her and the pastor dey ment”

@samuel_ekeson “She no just get shame 😫”

It did not end there as about a month after her world record attempt, she was captured in a viral video going about her daily activities -fetching water and buying onion- without any bodyguard and was trolled.

Now, after about four months of disappearing from the spotlight, the Federal University Oye Ekiti student showed up with another bully drama allegedly from her pastor and church members.

Chef Dammy and Pastor Jeremiah Palava

The brain behind the 120-hour cook-a-thon is said to be Dammy’s pastor, Adegoke Jeremiah Flourish, founder of Spirit Word Global Mission.

@Big_Baby28 wrote “Y’all Dammy is my friend Na our pastor dey push her. Please forgive Dammy swear for our pastor.”

“Chef Dammy needs forgiveness! She’s embarked on a 120-hour cook-a-thon, but it’s not her fault – she’s being egged on by the pastor. Looks like he’s cooking up trouble!” Liu Liu wrote.

@aminaebele (X user) posted a flyer that revealed Pastor Jeremiah‘s initial attempt to host a reality TV different from popular Big Brother called “The Lockdown Quest.” However, he reportedly abandoned this idea at the last minute and organised the cook-a-thon instead.

The 120-hour cooking marathon was criticised as it stirred up a lot of controversy. A major one was that pastor Jeremiah was allegedly pocketing proceeds from the world record attempt, which Dammy refuted. She wrote

“People always criticise the money coming in but they don’t ask about the money that was used to start up the whole program.

“This program was fully funded by my pastor and a few members of the church. I was not involved in anything. The only thing I did in everything was to cook. I was just the face of the church.”

“As a matter of fact, all the money that came in for me is not yet up to the money that was used to set up everything. And more than half of the supposed money that came in is still in my personal account. So ongoing rumours about my pastor should please cease.”

Possible Theory

Following the conversations on the world record attempt by Dammy, money could be the reason for all the threats. The management of the cook-a-thon proceeds caused social media users to question the motive of the cooking marathon and might be a pointer to the issue at hand, as the pastor was implicated.
