Beyoncé makes her film Debut in Mufasa: The Lion King… all to know about the movie
Beyoncé is set to grace the silver screen alongside her daughter Blue Ivy in Disney’s upcoming film, “Mufasa: The Lion King.”
In this prequel to the original classic, Beyoncé reprises her role as Nala, while Blue Ivy takes on the character of Nala’s daughter, Kiara.
Directed by Barry Jenkins, the movie explores the backstory of beloved characters through the perspectives of Rafiki, Timon, and Pumbaa.
The first trailer, released by Disney, offers a glimpse into the December 20 premiere. Jenkins promises a narrative that enriches the Lion King legacy, with the introduction of Kiro, a significant new character.
How Beyoncé Blue Ivy Got Tapped For Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King
Barry Jenkins, the director of Mufasa, revealed to EW that he was inspired to invite Beyoncé’s daughter Blue to join the cast after hearing Beyoncé’s narration on the audiobook Hair Love by Michael Cherry.
Initially pondering if Beyoncé would consider acting alongside her daughter, Jenkins was thrilled when both Beyoncé and Blue showed keen interest.

As per EW, the confirmed cast includes Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Kelvin Harrison Jr. as young Scar (Taka), Tiffany Boone as Sarabi, Kagiso Lediga as young Rafiki, Preston Nyman as Zazu, Mads Mikkelsen as Kiros, Thandiwe Newton as Eshe, Lennie James as Obasi, and Anika Noni Rose and Keith David as Afia and Masego, Mufasa’s parents.
When Have Blue Ivy & Beyoncé Worked Together Before?
Beyoncé and her daughter, Blue Ivy, have collaborated multiple times, notably winning a Grammy for their work on the song and music video “Brown Skin Girl” in 2021, featured in The Lion King 2019 soundtrack.
Their creative partnership began with “Blue” in 2013, and Blue surprised fans with a cameo at Beyoncé’s exclusive Dubai concert last year. Blue also made her touring debut during Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour last summer, showcasing her dance skills to tracks like “My Power” and “Black Parade” from Beyoncé’s 2019 album, The Lion King: The Gift.
