UniBeta AI: How Nigerian Students Can Use AI to Prepare for Exams

Preparing for university examinations often means dealing with lecture notes, bulky textbooks and past questions. UniBeta AI, a study platform developed by two former University of Lagos (UNILAG) students, is using artificial intelligence to help Nigerian undergraduates organise their materials and prepare for exams.

The platform allows students to upload course materials and past examination papers. Its AI tools then turn the documents into study guides, flashcards, quizzes and summaries.

UniBeta was founded by Dare Adeola and Olamide Onigbanjo in 2023. The startup initially aimed to build an all-in-one campus application but later shifted its focus to AI-powered exam preparation.

According to a report by TechCabal published on October 17, 2026, the founders developed the tool after recognising that students needed a more targeted way to study course materials and prepare for examinations.

Here is how Nigerian students can use UniBeta AI and what they should know about the platform.

1. Students can turn lecture notes into study guides

One of UniBeta AI’s main features is its ability to transform uploaded course materials into organised study guides.

Students can upload PDFs containing lecture notes, textbooks or other learning materials. The platform analyses the content and produces summaries that help students identify important concepts.

This could be useful for undergraduates who have several documents to review before an examination.

Instead of repeatedly reading lengthy materials, students can use the generated guides to organise their revision and identify topics that require further attention.

However, students should still consult their original notes and textbooks to understand complex subjects and confirm important details.

2. UniBeta AI analyses past questions to identify recurring topics

Past examination papers are an important part of university revision, particularly when students want to understand how lecturers structure their questions.

UniBeta AI allows users to upload past questions and analyse patterns across examination papers.

The platform focuses on identifying recurring topics rather than simply searching for questions that have appeared before.

Its founder, Dare Adeola, told TechCabal that university lecturers often repeat core topics even when they change the wording of examination questions.

This approach could help students identify areas that deserve more attention during revision.

However, identifying recurring topics does not guarantee that they will appear in the next examination. Students still need to study their course outlines and cover the required material.

3. Students can generate quizzes and flashcards

UniBeta AI also creates quizzes and flashcards from uploaded study materials.

Flashcards allow students to test their understanding of key concepts, definitions and other information. Quizzes provide another way to practise answering questions before an examination.

These tools can make revision more interactive than simply reading notes repeatedly.

Students can use the generated questions to identify topics they understand and areas where they need more practice.

The platform also provides summaries and structured study modules to help users organise their learning.

4. The platform offers free and paid plans

UniBeta AI operates a freemium model, allowing students to access some features without paying for a subscription.

According to the platform’s published pricing, students can use a free plan with limited credits. Paid plans provide additional credits and access to more advanced study tools.

The platform lists the following subscription options:

  • Free plan: ₦0 per month.
  • Smart Student: ₦2,000 per month.
  • Pro Student: ₦6,000 per month.

The free plan provides basic study guides and flashcards, while paid options offer additional tools and higher usage limits.

Students should consider their budgets and how frequently they intend to use the platform before paying for a subscription.

5. UniBeta AI is designed around Nigerian university students

Unlike general-purpose AI chatbots, UniBeta AI focuses on the study materials and examination patterns encountered by Nigerian university students.

The founders initially developed UniBeta as a broader campus platform, combining academic support, student media and a marketplace.

However, the original application faced technical problems, while the business struggled with the seasonal nature of university learning. Student activity increased before examinations and dropped after the examination period.

The founders subsequently narrowed their focus and launched UniBeta AI in October 2025.

Their longer-term plans include developing additional learning tools, such as slide creation and voice tutorials.

The company is also exploring ways to expand its reach beyond individual campuses.

What Nigerian students should know

UniBeta AI offers students another way to organise lecture notes, practise examination questions and review difficult topics.

Its usefulness will depend on the quality of the materials students upload and how effectively they use the generated resources.

Students should not treat AI-generated questions as predictions of what lecturers will set. They should also check generated explanations against their course materials because AI tools can produce inaccurate information.

Used alongside lectures, textbooks and independent revision, the platform could help students manage their study time and prepare more systematically for examinations.
