 RISING STARS: From online rap battle to Grammy dreams, Tyoonz’s inspiring music journey

Mustapha Hussaini Zakari, Popularly known as Tyoonz, is a multifaceted Nigerian talent known for singing, rapping, songwriting, performerce, and recording artist.

Born on June 7, 1999, he began his musical career during his middle school years, where he initially ventured into the realm of online battle rapping. At the age of 16, an awakening dawned upon him as he discovered his flair for rap, marking the genesis of his distinctive journey as a recording artist.



The early days and inspirations

In the middle of 2016, Tyoonz transitioned from remixing other artists’ songs to embark on his own musical excursion. His maiden official release, “bolo bolo,” featuring the late nacxo, made its way into the musical landscape, captivating the hearts of enthusiasts across Niger state.



His musical inclinations were profoundly shaped by the melodic cadence of artists like Lil Wayne, Yung6ix, Phenom, Ice Prince, and Wizkid. Tyoonz’s determination was evident as he ardently pursued his passion for music while pursuing his degree in Political Science at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai.

Charting his musical journey



Since the release of “bolo bolo,” Tyoonz has presented three remarkable musical collections, including the “cruise vibez mixtape” in 2020, “amapiano EP” in 2022, and his latest venture, “industry baby EP” in 2023.

As the landscape of Nigerian music evolved, Tyoonz embraced a fusion of Afropop, R&B, and hip-hop, effectively sculpting a unique musical narrative amidst the dwindling prominence of rap music in the country’s music industry.

Breaking barriers and blazing trails

With unwavering resolve, Tyoonz envisions an enduring legacy in the music industry, aspiring to ascend to pinnacles hitherto uncharted. As he continues to expand his horizons, his eyes are set on shattering records and etching his name in the annals of the Grammy Awards, symbolizing his aspiration to make a global imprint through his artistry.
