Liverpool endured their first home defeat of the 2024/25 season in a shocking 0-1 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield in Premier League Game Week 4 as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side stunned the home crowd with a resilient performance, securing a crucial victory that handed Arne Slot’s men an unexpected early-season setback.
Despite Liverpool dominating possession early on, it was Nottingham Forest who broke the deadlock. Callum Hudson Odoi opened the scoring in the 72nd minute with a well-taken strike after beating Liverpools’ goalie Allison Becker from outside the box to win control of the ball which was passed from Anthony Elanga in a swift counter-attacking mode.
The game remained evenly contested, with both teams coaches setting up newer formations and bringing in substitutes to balance the game, but Forest remained resilient, soaking up pressures from the Reds who were desperate for an equalizer, with Diogo Jota, Luiz Diaz and Mohammed Salah all making crucial attempts to score, but Nottingham Forest’s defense held firm.
Liverpool’s defeat ended their perfect start this season and raised concerns about their defensive errors as well as their goal scoring chances. Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest celebrated another win at Anfield in the Premier League, a victory that lifted them up the table and signaled their intent to compete strongly this season.
