Planning a Trip to Qatar? See the Visa Rules for Iranian Citizens

Qatar has introduced specific visa arrangements for Iranian citizens, allowing eligible travellers to obtain tourist and business visas on arrival.

The arrangement gives Iranian nationals access to two categories of visas, depending on the purpose of their visit.

Under the tourist visa arrangement, Iranian citizens can obtain a 30-day visa on arrival by paying a fee of QR100.

The visa allows visitors to stay in Qatar for up to 30 days. However, it cannot be extended.

Those travelling for business purposes have a different option. Qatar offers Iranian business visitors a visa that can be issued for one month at a time, with the possibility of extending the stay to six months.

The business visa costs QR200 per month and requires an invitation from a Qatari establishment.

What Iranian tourists need to obtain a Qatar visa

Iranian citizens travelling to Qatar for tourism must meet the country’s entry requirements.

These include holding a valid passport, providing evidence of accommodation and having a confirmed return or onward flight ticket.

Travellers may also be required to provide evidence of sufficient funds for their stay.

Meeting these conditions is important because having access to a visa on arrival does not automatically guarantee entry into the country.

How the business visa works

Unlike the tourist visa, the business visa is designed for Iranian nationals visiting Qatar for commercial activities.

Applicants must have an invitation from a Qatari establishment to qualify.

The visa is issued for one month at a time and can be extended, subject to the applicable conditions, for a maximum period of six months.

Its monthly fee is QR200.

This arrangement provides a longer stay option for Iranian visitors whose business activities require more time than a regular tourist visit.

What travellers should know

The two visa categories serve different purposes and have different costs and conditions.

While the tourist visa provides a 30-day stay without an extension option, the business visa allows eligible visitors to remain in Qatar for longer through monthly extensions.

Iranian travellers should therefore determine the purpose of their visit before choosing a visa category.
