The Nigerian film industry took a bold step towards global visual excellence as the maiden edition of the Cinekulture Workshop held at the prestigious Mike Adenuga Centre, Alliance Française de Lagos, on September 26, 2026.
Convened by Director/Cinematographer Oludotun Ololade, the workshop was a strictly limited edition with just 20 participants, a deliberate move to ensure hands-on, intensive learning. The exclusive slots sold out days before the event.
With the theme “The Art, Science and Technology of Crafting Cinematic Images,” the workshop gathered Directors, Cinematographers, Gaffers, Art Directors and Writers in one room to learn how to collectively build powerful cinematic images, rather than working in silos.
A major highlight that left participants buzzing was the live practical demonstration where the ordinary training room was transformed into a rich, traditional, culture-filled set in minutes – showing the real power of collaboration between Lighting, Art Direction and Camera.
The event was powered by key industry partners. DUFIL Prima Foods Plc, makers of Indomie Noodles, through its brand AddMe Nutrition Limited, served as Refreshment Sponsor, providing meals and refreshments for both participants and crew throughout the intensive day-long training.

Speaking at the event, Convener Oludotun Ololade noted, “Nollywood has mastered content creation; now is the time to master image-crafting. When we craft with intention, we move from content to true cinema that can compete anywhere in the world.”
The workshop featured top facilitators including Christopher Obamwonyi, Kayode Abolade, Gbenga Adeoti, Danniella Ugoagha, Oladimeji Ayoola, and Psalm Oderinde, with talents/Actors Adekanbi Oluwabusolami and Isaiah Jesutofunmi, moderated by Sebastin Adaeze.
For those who missed out on this limited edition, the convener has announced that a bigger edition with expanded seat capacity will hold before the end of the year.
Cinekulture organized the workshop in partnership with Alliance Française de Lagos and Shoggyben Visuals as Media Partner. Other partners are FilmJoint, Frame Eye Productions and Silhouette Pictures.
