Prince Olaide Lateef Muhammed, a member of the House of Representatives, and Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, are among the prominent personalities expected at a public-interest event in Lagos.
The event, ‘Nigeria Is Ours – National Development Conversation and Public Presentation of A Compendium of Public Interest Reporting,’ is scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in Lagos. The date is particularly significant as it coincides with Global Media and Information Literacy Week.
The programme will feature the public presentation of Nigeria Is Ours: A Compendium of Public Interest Reporting, authored by multi-award-winning Kishi-born journalist Ridwan Adeola Yusuf.
The programme will bring together thought leaders, political captains, media professionals, youth advocates, security experts, educators, students, and other stakeholders to discuss Nigeria’s development.
Muhammed, who represents the Irepo/Orelope/Olorunsogo Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber, is expected to join other guests at the event. Popularly called POLAM, Muhammed is the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Pensions in Nigeria’s 10th National Assembly. He has backed several initiatives to improve the lives of young people, including empowerment programmes, education and scholarship support, employment opportunities, and infrastructure projects.
Akosile, a media entrepreneur, is also expected to participate in the programme as a keynote speaker. He has been involved in public discussions on governance, youth development and strategic communication.
The event, themed ‘Nigeria Is Ours: Reimagining Leadership, Citizenship and Security for National Development,’ will also feature individuals whose work and advocacy centre on national development, media, leadership, and innovation.
Prince Ogungbayi Adesegun, the Board Chairman of MIMS Educational Resources Limited, is the Chairman of the event, while Engr. Yusuf Majolagbe, the National General Secretary of the Nigerian Institution of Environmental Engineers (NIEE), is the Father of the Day. Hon. Yaqub Olaaje, a former House of Representatives aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Iseyin/Kajola/Iwajowa/Itesiwaju Federal Constituency, is among the launchers.
According to the planning committee, the programme will provide an opportunity for participants to examine issues shaping Nigeria’s future, with discussions expected to cover economy, education, governance, civic awareness, and tech.

A session titled ‘AI for Everyday Life and Work’ will also be held as part of the programme, focusing on practical applications of artificial intelligence for individuals, professionals, businesses, students, journalists and families.
Yusuf, who has more than nine years of journalism experience, is skilled in digital publishing, investigative reporting and AI literacy. He has also managed teams. Trained in Mass Communication, he is passionate about advocacy and initiatives aimed at making Nigeria a better nation.
His book, Nigeria Is Ours, brings together selected public-interest reports examining issues across governance, politics, education, healthcare, technology, security and other areas of public concern.
The October 24 gathering is expected to combine the presentation of the book with a broader conversation on Nigeria’s development and the role of citizens, institutions, young people and the media in shaping the country’s future.
