Lagos governor’s aide, James Ojo Adakole, others to speak at launch of book on leadership
Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Media and Publicity, will deliver the keynote address at a national discourse on leadership, citizenship and security, organised to mark the launch of a new book by journalist Ridwan Adeola Yusuf.
Joining him on the panel are James Ojo Adakole, Dr. Jide Johnson, Tope Balogun and Timothy Avele. They are expected to examine how stronger leadership, active citizenship and better security can drive national development. Yusuf, the author, will serve as convener.
The discourse is part of “The Nigeria We Want…” series and a side event to the public presentation of the book, Nigeria Is Ours: A Compendium of Public Interest Reporting, which holds next month. It will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 12 noon, under the theme “Nigeria Is Ours: Reimagining Leadership, Citizenship and Security for National Development.”
The venue is the Nigerian Institution of Environmental Engineers (NIEE) Resource Centre, NSE Ikeja Branch, Ralph Alabi Engineering Centre, Plot 32, Oba Ogunji Road, beside Forte Oil (AP) Petrol Station, Ogba (via Pen Cinema), Lagos. According to the author, the 20-chapter book brings together some of his most consequential public-interest journalism, including investigations and evidence-based reports on education, social justice, corruption, institutional failures and security. Most chapters appear in their original form, as they first ran online.
Yusuf has worked in journalism and media since 2010. He was Legit.ng Journalist of the Year for 2024 and 2025 and a 2024 Change Reporting Fellow. He was also longlisted for the Africa Science Journalism Awards 2025, and his work has appeared on platforms including the International Journalists’ Network, African Examiner and Politics Nigeria.
