By James Lukpata
History would not forget the Ukelle youths forum in a hurry as they troop out enmasse yesterday 30th November to protest and sensitized the Ukelle people on the need to boycott the forthcoming Cross River North Senatorial bye election slated for 5th December 2020 until the govt fixed the said road.
UYF is a movement comprises all Ukelle youths across the six political wards that made up Ukelle the Yala II state constituency of Cross River State.
The movement which came as a result of searching for best way to reach the govt at all levels through peaceful means has as Its mandate to change the narrative.
It could be recalled that several interventions has been carried out on the same Ukelle road that passes right in the meddle of yala ii constituency through Oju/Otukpo road in Benue State but none of these interventions have seen light of day as the road condition worsen daily especially during raining season.
Recently, the Cross River State govt has brought two caterpillars to grade the 47mk UKelle road as a means of cooling down the soothing nerves of youths in the region who undertook the protest for NO ROAD NO ELECTION.
Meanwhile, both youths and the elderly have accused the govt and some politicians from Ukelle as using the means to deceive them so that they can participate in the December 5th Senatorial bye-election in Cross River North.
Aside youth demand for road the need for infrastructural facilities in Ukelle remain sacrosanct as the youths have vow never to back down untill their demands are met by the govt or there will be no election in UKelle the Yala II State constituency across her six wards.
