Niger, Chad… top 10 African countries with lowest unemployment rate

A recent report by Business Insider Africa sheds light on the ten African countries with the lowest unemployment rates, with Niger leading the pack at a mere 0.49%.
The data, provided by Statista, highlights the stark disparities in employment opportunities across the continent.
Despite various efforts by African governments to tackle unemployment, the impact has been limited due to a rapidly growing population. Last year, African leaders convened in Dar es Salaam and adopted a seven-point declaration to address this pressing issue collectively.

Countries both big and small on the continent are grappling with high unemployment rates. South Africa stands out with the highest rate at 32.1%, followed by Djibouti at around 28% and Eswatini at 25%.
However, there have been positive strides in some nations thanks to factors such as economic reforms, increased investments, and the emergence of new job opportunities.
The countries boasting low unemployment rates are witnessing positive effects rippling through their economies. More jobs mean increased consumer spending, enhanced confidence, and a greater demand for goods and services, resulting in overall economic growth.
Niger leads with its meager 0.49% unemployment rate, closely trailed by Chad at 0.98% and Benin at 1.28%, showcasing a glimmer of hope amidst the continent’s employment woes.
