Maguire, Onana save Man U, Arsenal shine… UCL’s Week 3 highlights

Sevilla 1 vs Arsenal 2

Arsenal resumed their winning ways against Sevilla thanks to two elegant goals either side of halftime. Shortly before halftime, Gabriel Martinelli scored after a brilliant work by Gabriel Jesus. Jesus got his name on the scoresheet when he put in another masterful performance that saw him create space on his own and shoot a spectacular shot into the top corner on the 53rd minute.

After that, Nemanja Gudelj responded with a header within 5minutes, but Arsenal, who had lost at Lens on Matchday 2, took the lead in the group with a 1-2 win on a night when their superior attacking play was the deciding factor.

PSG 3 vs AC Milan 0

It’s a tough one for AC Milan to accept. It’s difficult to comprehend how they lost 3-0 at the Parc des Princes considering that the Rossoneri were competitive for the first thirty minutes of the match but were unable to take advantage of their opportunities.

Despite knowing the risks, the squad stuck to their pattern and went head-to-head with a top team. The strategy appeared to be working up until the end, when PSG started to attack at will.

Mbappé broke the deadlock on the 32nd minute of the game and The Parisians went on to secure a 3-0 win over the Italians.

Following Dortmund’s 1-0 victory away at Newcastle, AC Milan currently sit in fourth place in the group with just two points. However, there is still things to play for and anything can happen but only if they fix the mistakes they made in their first three games.

Braga 1 vs Real Madrid 2

Galatasary 1 vs Bayern Munich 3

Bayern maintained their unbeaten Group A record with a well-earned victory. The Bavarians took the lead early thanks to a strike into the bottom corner from Kingsley Coman, but Mauro Icardi’s “Panenka” penalty gave the home team a response.

In the second half, Harry Kane’s close-range finish gave the visitors a lead again, and Jamal Musiala scored a header from the England captain to wrap up the match.

Barcelona 2 vs shaktar Donetsk 1

Barcelona’s nerve-wracking victory over the Miners allowed them to keep their perfect Group H record. Fermin Lopez and Ferran Torres both scored decisive goals in the first half of the game, seemingly setting up the Blaugrana for an easy win.

Thoughts of a spectacular comeback gained momentum when Georgiy Sudakov surged in following a quick counterattack, but the Spanish club held it down. The Ukrainian champions couldn’t share the spoils, despite captain Taras Stepanenko coming close twice in the last minutes.

Manchester United 1 vs Copenhagen 0

Manchester United defeated FC Copenhagen on Tuesday to record their first Champions League win this campaign.

Erik ten Hag’s team needed to defeat Copenhagen at Old Trafford because they had lost their first two games and were at the bottom of Group A with no points going into the game.

The Red Devils have started getting back in form with a 2-1 victory over Sheffield United over the weekend and now with a narrow win over FC Copenhagen, they have made it 3 wins in a row.

Maguire had a tremendous moment scoring the only goal of the game, and Andre Onana played a major role in the victory as well. The Cameroonian shot stopper saved Copenhagen’s stoppage-time penalty to guarantee the three points were gained in dramatic Manner. United now sits 3rd on the group just a point behind Galatasary in 2nd position while Bayern occupies the first position with 9points.

Celtic 2 vs Atletico Madrid 2

Celtic managed to draw with the Spanish team, earning their first point of the current campaign. Following a one-two with Matthew O’Riley, Kyogo Furuhashi gave them the perfect start with a tidy finish, but Antoine Griezmann later tapped in after Joe Hart had touched his penalty onto the post.

Even though Luis Palma’s goal gave the hosts the lead again, Atlético equalised with a magnificent header from Álvaro Morata. Rodrigo De Paul was sent off late on in the game.
