LAAF Commemorates International Boys’ Day with “Boys Under Protection” Program

The Life After Abuse Foundation (LAAF) commemorated International Boys’ Day through its “Boys Under Protection Program,” an initiative designed to promote the emotional well-being, positive development, and protection of boys in society.

The program was successfully held on the 15th of May at Ransome-Kuti Memorial Junior Grammar School and Ransome-Kuti Memorial Senior Grammar School, where students participated in sessions focused on healthy masculinity, discipline, emotional intelligence, and purpose-driven living.

The event commenced with an opening speech delivered by Hauwa Onifade, LAAF Program Coordinator, who emphasized the importance of creating safe spaces where boys can be heard, supported, and empowered to thrive despite growing social challenges affecting young males today.

One of the major highlights of the event was a session on Emotional Well-being for Boys, which addressed the often-overlooked emotional struggles faced by boys and the need for society to encourage openness, resilience, and healthy expression.

Speaking on the topic, “Becoming a Man of Purpose, Discipline & Impact,” Mustapha Madehin encouraged the students to embrace responsibility, self-discipline, and positive values that will shape them into impactful leaders and responsible men in the future.

Augustine Aigbokhaevbo also delivered an enlightening presentation on Healthy Masculinity, where he spoke about the importance of character, respect, accountability, and emotional balance in defining true masculinity.

To encourage reflection and engagement, participants were asked to provide written feedback on the lessons they had learned throughout the program. This was followed by an interactive dialogue and question-and-answer session, where students openly discussed challenges affecting boys and received guidance from the speakers.

The program concluded with a closing remark by Halima Layeni, who reaffirmed LAAF’s commitment to advocating for the protection, emotional well-being, and development of boys. She emphasized that boys deserve care, guidance, protection, and opportunities to grow into healthy and responsible men.

The event ended with the Boys’ Pledge, a collective declaration by the students to uphold discipline, respect, purpose, and positive values in their daily lives.

Through initiatives such as the Boys Under Protection Program, the Life After Abuse Foundation continues to champion conversations surrounding the welfare of boys while promoting a society where every child is protected, valued, and empowered.
