Euro 2024: England under pressure to deliver… Is it coming home?
England national team is under pressure to “bring it home” as their recent defeat in the final of UEFA EURO 2020 at home in the hands of the Italians still lingers.
Losing to Gli Azzurri on home soil at Wembley Stadium was a heartbreaking moment for the three lions and their fans.
Now, with another talented squad and still the experienced coach, Gareth Southgate, they’re eager to make amends and bring home their first major trophy since 1966 when they beat West Germany 4:2 in the same Wembley to win the world Cup.

The current team has shown significant progress, with a solid defense, creative midfielders, and a clinical attack led by Harry Kane since the 2020 EURO.
However, England’s smooth sailing through the qualifying phase has been overshadowed by a recent slump in friendlies plus injuries and selection headaches for the manager, which have significantly dampened the team’s spirits and expectations.
One of the key strengths of the Three Lions is their defense, marshaled by the experienced John Stones, Kyle Walker and others. They have a solid record in recent tournaments, conceding few goals and keeping crucial clean sheets.
Another strength is their midfield, led by the creative Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham with whom they have finished fourth in the 2018 World Cup, runners-up at the 2020 Euros, and exiting the 2022 World Cup in the quarter-finals at the hands of France.
However, they will need to address their consistency issues, having struggled against lower-ranked teams in the past.
Harry Kane will be eager to score more goals, having already scored over 60 international goals for the English national team. There are also other stars including Bellingham, Saka, Foden, Rice, Palmer, Toney and others that make up the super English team that have been dubbed by many as the favourites to take home the trophy.
The heartbreaking defeat in the last EURO final should serve as a motivating factor for the team, and they’ll be eager to make amends and bring home their first major trophy in over 50 years.
