Adebisi Edionseri, a renowned businesswoman and socialite popularly known as Cash Madam, is dead.
She died at the age of 89, after a brief illness on Sunday, 5th January 2025, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Her death was made known through a statement issued by one of her sons, Adebayo Adebowale, on behalf of the family, on Sunday.
What to know about Cash Madam
Cash Madam was born in 1935 in Ogun State. She grew up to be a successful business entrepreneur and a household name in Ogun State.
Her trailblazing entrepreneurial spirit led to the establishment of successful businesses that contributed to the economic landscape of Ogun State and inspired many businesses.
She earned the nickname “Cash Madam” due to her financial acumen and substantial wealth. The nickname was popularised in the 1970s by Juju music maestro Ebenezer Obey in his album “Board Members,” where he eulogised her.
Cash Madam was a devoted mother and grandmother who left behind a family that continues to uphold her legacy of entrepreneurship and community service.
Her life was marked by remarkable achievements in business, significant cultural influence, and a lasting legacy that continues to inspire many in Nigeria and beyond.
As a devout Muslim, her funeral was conducted according to Islamic rites on January 6, 2025, at her residence in Abeokuta GRA, attended by family, friends, and dignitaries who came to pay their last respects.
Notable among those who mourn her is the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who described her death as a significant loss to the state and the nation. He expressed deep sorrow over her passing stating that she was an inspiration to everyone.
Also, the Iyalode Musulumk of Egbaland made a tribute to the deceased socialite, where she described her as a “gracious Amazon.” These are amongst the different tributes from family and friends who mourn the great businesswoman.
