Battle of survival: Can Moore save shambolic Baggies?
By Israel Igiri
It is the 19th placed team against the 16th placed team. It is a must win game for both sides as they hope to stay in the top flight. With six games to go and 10 point adrift of safety, the position of West Brom in the top flight is looking more and more desperate. They need to get the ball rolling here if they are to stand any chance of survival.
A 2-1 defeat at home to Burnley last week brought to an end Alan Pardew’s disastrous reign in charge of West Brom as they crashed to an eight successive defeat. Now, they have a new manager in Darren Moore. While they will face Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham in their last six fixtures, the task of survival looks almost impossible, so they need to pick up a win this Saturday to stand any chance of remaining in the top flight next season.
Swansea are three points above the relegation places, a will need a couple more results to ensure their safety. Knowing full well that a loss for them and victories for Huddersfield Town, Crystal Palace and Southampton will move them into the relegation zone, they are obliged to getting a favourable result at the Hawthorns. But they need to be wary of the Baggies’ new motivation under the interim boss, Darren Moore.
Cut adrift at the foot of the table, Moore has been asked to perform a miracle, with Saturday’s clash against Swansea a must-win. Can he be the saviour?
