‘APC paid me to support Tinubu’ — Portable flaunts cash
Habeeb Okikiola, the Nigerian singer popularly known as Portable, has claimed the All Progressives Congress (APC) paid him to support its presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu.
He made the claim in a video shared via his Instagram page on Wednesday.
The ‘Zazoo Zeh’ crooner had earlier endorsed Gboyega Oyetola, governor of Osun state, for re-election in Osogbo, the state capital.
During his meeting with Oyetola, he had also declared his support for Tinubu ahead of 2023.
His action, however, did not sit well with many Nigerians as they took to social media to call him out.
But addressing his critics in another post, Portable said he was paid to promote Tinubu.
He also asked his critics to allow him to do his job.
“I was once paid to insult Tinubu, but that was a long time ago. Now, I have been paid by APC to support Tinubu and I will do so. If you are paid to do something, do it well… it’s Tinubu’s turn. I must do the job which they paid for,” he said.
Tinubu is one of the major candidates jostling to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Others are Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of Labour Party (LP).
As of the time of this report, the APC has yet to react to Portable’s claim.
