Many players from EPL (English Premier League) have been selected to represent their countries at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)  which is scheduled to hold from 13 January – 11 February 2024.

This will affect a number of clubs because of the time the tournament is  scheduled to take place; some important players for their clubs will be out for as long as a monthly if their nations go deep in the competition.



Here is a thorough look at the Premier League players that will be competing in AFCON 2023, along with the teams they play for:

AFC Bournemouth: Dango Ouattara (Burkina Faso), Antoine Semenyo (Ghana), Hamed Traore (Ivory Coast).



Arsenal: Mohamed Elneny (Egypt) and Thomas Partey (Ghana).

Aston Villa: Bertrand Traore (Burkina Faso).



Brentford: Frank Onyeka (Nigeria), Bryan Mbeumo (Cameroon), Yoane Wissa (DR Congo).

Brighton & Hove Albion: Tariq Lamptey (Ghana), Carlos Baleba (Cameroon), Simon Adingra (Ivory Coast).

Burnley: Anass Zaroury (Morocco), Lyle Foster (South Africa).

Chelsea: Nicolas Jackson (Senegal).

Everton: Idrissa Gueye (Senegal).

Fulham: Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi (Nigeria), Fode Ballo-Toure (Senegal).

Liverpool: Mohamed Salah (Egypt).

Luton Town: Issa Kabore (Burkina Faso), Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu (DR Congo)

Manchester United: Andre Onana (Cameroon), Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast), Sofyan Amrabat (Morocco).

Nottingham Forest: Ola Aina (Nigeria), Taiwo Awoniyi (Nigeria), Serge Aurier (Ivory Coast), Willy Boly (Ivory Coast) , Ibrahim Sangare (Ivory Coast), Moussa Niakhate (Senegal), Cheikhou Kouyate (Senegal).

Sheffield United: Ismaila Coulibaly (Mali), Anis Ben Slimane (Tunisia).

Tottenham Hotspur: Yves Bissouma (Mali), Pape Matar Sarr (Senegal).

West Ham United: Mohammed Kudus (Ghana), Said Benrahma (Algeria), Maxwel Cornet (Ivory Coast), Nayef Aguerd (Morocco).

Wolverhampton Wanderers: Rayan Ait-Nouri (Algeria), Boubacar Traore (Mali).

Due to these players participation in AFCON 2023, they will be absent from their respective clubs’ domestic and European fixtures.

The teams may be impacted by this absence, particularly those like Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal who could lose important first team players at a pivotal juncture in the season.
