Ronaldo, Messi…See footballers with highest number of hattricks

On April 2, Cristiano Ronaldo extended his impressive form for Al-Nassr by scoring a hat-trick against Abha, which included two great free kicks and one incredible chip. That was the Portuguese second hat-trick in two games.

Three days earlier, on Saturday, March 30, he demonstrated his genius with a spectacular hat-trick in the second half, helping Al-Nassr defeat Al Taee 5-1.

Crispng presents a glance at the top five players with the most hat-tricks in football history as of April 3rd 2024.

Pele – 92 hat-tricks

The Guinness Book of World Records states that Brazilian icon Edson Arantes do Nascimento, often known as Pele, scored 92 hat-tricks in football.

Recognising historical records can be challenging because most of them lack clarity, but Pele’s has been verified by the most trustworthy source for records-keeping.

Pele is widely regarded as one of the best football players of all time, having spent the majority of his career playing for Santos in Brazil.

Cristiano Ronaldo65 hat-tricks

Just like wine, Ronaldo keeps getting better as the year goes by. At 39-year-old, he is still quite accomplished as seen by his 65 hattricks.

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to show that age is only a number after scoring a hat-trick in Al Nassr’s 8-0 Saudi Pro League trashing of Abha on Tuesday, 2nd April. The Portugal captain only played the first half but was involved in all five goals as his team went in 5-0 ahead at half-time.

Impressively, the Portuguese legend scored 30 hat tricks prior to turning 30, and has added another 35 after turning 30.

Lionel Messi57 hat-tricks

Throughout his remarkable career, Lionel Messi has racked up an amazing 56 hattricks. He scored his debut hatrick against Real Madrid in a 3–3 draw while playing for Barcelona at Camp Nou in March 2007.

The genius from Argentina introduced himself to the world of football with that performance. There are only six players who have scored two hat tricks in EL Classico, and Messi is without a doubt one of them.

Messi, who has already set a record with eight Ballon d’Or wins, assisted Argentina in winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar for the first time in 36 years.

Ali Ashfaq – 35 hat-tricks

Given that he mostly played in his native Maldives, Ali Ashfaq’s name might not be well-known to many fans. The forward made a remarkable ratio of goals scored to appearances during his time at various clubs.

There are only two players in the twenty-first century who have accomplished more hat-tricks than him, and those are Ronaldo and Messi.

Robert Lewandowski – 31 hat-tricks

Lewandowski is the first player to score a UEFA Champions League hat trick for three different teams (one for Borussia Dortmund, four for Bayern Munich, one for Barcelona).

Lewandowski has won many honours including the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, ten Bundesliga titles and one Spanish LaLiga.
