Nottingham Trent Scholarships for January 2027: Awards, Eligibility and Deadline

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) has scholarships for eligible international students starting an undergraduate or postgraduate taught course in January 2027. The final application deadline is 31 October 2026 at 16:00 GMT. Applicants need an NTU course offer before they can apply for a scholarship, so this is a short window for anyone who has not yet secured admission.

The awards reduce tuition fees; they are not cash grants for rent or living costs. They are competitive, and meeting the criteria does not guarantee an award. Here is what the current NTU guidance says, who should check the terms carefully, and how to use the official application route.

What scholarships are available for January 2027?

NTU’s international scholarship page lists a range of awards. Depending on the award, the value is typically between £2,000 and 50% of tuition fees. The NTU Excellence Scholarship offers a 25% or 50% reduction on first-year tuition. Undergraduate recipients of that award also receive £3,000 towards each subsequent year, subject to the university’s terms. NTU says a 50% award can represent £9,150 to £12,500, depending on the course fee.

Other awards target particular study levels, countries or academic profiles. For example, the Africa Sub-Saharan High Achievers award is listed for eligible postgraduate applicants from the region. The International Merit Scholarship and International Scholarship are among the awards listed for eligible postgraduate taught applicants. These are not interchangeable: check the course, nationality or residence criteria and study-level rules on the official NTU scholarship page before applying.

Scholarship funding is credited against tuition fees at enrolment, rather than paid to the student as unrestricted money. If another external award also contributes to tuition, NTU’s terms limit combined tuition scholarship funding to 50% of first-year tuition. Award exclusions and conditions apply.

Who can apply, and who is excluded?

You must have an offer for an eligible NTU course before submitting a scholarship application. The January 2027 round covers eligible undergraduate and postgraduate taught courses. It is not a general funding route for every NTU programme: research degrees and some courses or progression routes are excluded.

NTU says current NTU students and students progressing from Nottingham Trent International College are not eligible for these awards. Students whose tuition is fully or partly paid by a sponsor are also excluded. Some awards have additional country, course or academic requirements, so use the award-specific terms rather than assuming that “international student” alone is enough.

The scholarship application asks for personal and course details. Applicants seeking consideration for higher-value awards must complete the relevant personal statement of up to 500 words. NTU requires applicants to write the application themselves and states that AI-generated content must not be used in the scholarship application. Treat this as a rule for your own application: explain your genuine experience and plans in your own words.

Which deadlines have passed?

NTU’s first-round deadline was 30 September 2026. That date has passed. The final deadline for the January 2027 scholarship round is 31 October 2026 at 16:00 GMT. The university says it will not consider late scholarship applications.

Because an offer is a prerequisite, the final date is not a promise that a new course application submitted now will be decided in time. NTU’s international application guidance says January postgraduate applications are open, but courses can close when full; it does not provide a single guaranteed admissions decision deadline for every course. Check availability and timing directly with NTU before relying on a scholarship application being possible.

How to apply

  1. Check that your course is open and eligible. Use NTU’s international application guide to follow the course application process and confirm the course-specific entry requirements. The scholarship requires an offer, so do not treat the scholarship form as an admissions application.
  2. Review the award rules for your course and profile. Read NTU’s scholarship list and terms, including exclusions, study level, country criteria and how the award is applied to fees.
  3. Apply for the scholarship through NTU’s form. If you already hold an eligible offer, complete the university’s official scholarship application form. Submit it by 16:00 GMT on 31 October 2026. The form is the application route; NTU’s information page is not a substitute for submitting it.
  4. Write any required statement yourself. If seeking the higher-value awards, answer the personal-statement question within the form’s stated limit. NTU says the application must be the student’s own work and must not use AI-generated content.
  5. Check your next steps with NTU if admission is still pending. The university’s international FAQ and application guidance explain how to contact the relevant admissions team. Ask whether the course remains open and whether an offer can be issued before the scholarship cut-off; neither outcome is guaranteed.

What to do if you cannot meet the October deadline

Do not submit an incomplete or ineligible application on the assumption that NTU will extend the date. The current page gives 31 October 2026 as the final deadline for this January round. If you are planning for a later intake, monitor NTU’s official scholarship page for the next round’s published dates and terms; do not assume January 2027 rules will carry over.

In short: this is a potentially substantial tuition discount, but the deadline is close and the offer requirement is decisive. First confirm that the course is still open and that you have an eligible NTU offer; then check your exact award terms and use the direct form before the stated cut-off.
