According to the statement also, the prestigious inaugural prayer breakfast was in honour of America’s 250th anniversary and swearing-in ceremony of president-elect Donald Trump and vice president-elect JD Vance.

The event will be held on the 20th of January 2025 at the Waldorf Astoria Presidential ballroom with Rev. Merrie Turner as the hostess.

The aim is to pray for America, the president, and the peace of Jerusalem.

Gospel singer and youth pastor at Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Nathaniel Bassey is the only African invited to minister at the event. Other invited guests include Pastor Mario Bramnick, revivalist Rebecca Macchi, and Dr. Dominiquae Bierman.

This meant great news for Nigerians, as the recognition is of global magnitude and has once again reaffirmed Nigeria as the giant of Africa.

Nathaniel Bassey has also confirmed the invite with a post on Instagram that says, “Let’s raise a sound in America. And let the King of Glory one in. See you. 20th January, 2025.”

What to know about the inaugural prayer breakfast

It is a non-political, faith-based event that is held once every four years before the swearing-in ceremony of a new presidential administration. It’s called a prayer breakfast meeting because, in the event, worship and prayers are offered to God in intercession over the presidency, the people of America, and the country as a whole. The event has been graced by many dignitaries all over the world and is live-streamed so that everyone can connect to the prayers.
