How Thomas Tuchel inspired Chelsea back to winning ways
Six games played, five won, one drawn and fourth on the English Premier League (EPL) table, Thomas Tuchel continues his impressive start life at Chelsea.
When he took over as head coach weeks ago, the Blues were a shadow of themselves, lacking motivation to win.
But since the sack of Frank Lampard, the German has continued to chart a new course forward for the club.
Monday’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle United was another evidence of Tuchel’s impact at Stamford Bridge since his arrival.
Under his watch, there has been pretty much healthy competion among the players with each of them trying to prove their mettle.
Tuchel’s seeming penchant for meritocracy over preference has so far been effective and would define his stay with the Blues in the long run.
Those considered starters under Lampard are having a tough time proving they’re up to the task while fringe players are pushing their way into the first team.
Generally, Tuchel is building a system capable of getting the results even without playing so well and that will be key as the Blues seek a return to their best.
For now, Chelsea look poised for greatness under Tuchel if the coach can sustain the momentum.
