Busaosowo Foundation announces school tour to teach youths dangers of drug abuse

Busaosowo Foundation, a faith-based nonprofit organisation dedicated to drug abuse prevention, is set to hold a tour across schools to educate students on the dangers of drug abuse.

In a statement, Busaosowo Bisong, executive director of the foundation, said the tour will hold on June 27.

Bisong said the initiative is part of activities to commemorate this year’s International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed annually on the 26th of June.

“For the past five years, Busaosowo Foundation has been at the forefront of the fight against drug abuse in Nigeria through prevention education and advocacy. The organization has made significant strides in the community and beyond, leaving a lasting impact,” the statement reads.

“One of their notable achievements includes the development and publication of the first local content guide on drug abuse prevention in Nigeria. This guide has been adopted by schools across the country, equipping young people with the necessary skills to overcome daily challenges without resorting to drugs,

“Recognizing the urgency to create a healthier and safer community for Nigerian youth, Busaosowo Foundation firmly believes in the power of education and prevention in combating drug abuse. As part of their ongoing commitment, the foundation is embarking on school tours to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. These tours aim to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and empower young people to make informed choices to protect themselves and their communities.

“During the school tours, representatives from Busaosowo Foundation will engage with students, educators, and community members to provide valuable insights and knowledge about the adverse effects of drug abuse, and what parents and teachers can do to prevent drug use. Through interactive sessions and educational materials, participants will learn about the signs and consequences of drug abuse, strategies for prevention, and the importance of seeking help and support.

“Busaosowo Foundation invites all members of the media and the public to join them in raising awareness about drug abuse prevention on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Together, we can create a society where every individual, regardless of background, has the opportunity to live a healthy and drug-free life.”
