Another COVID-19 patient dies in Lagos — toll now six

The Lagos State government on Tuesday confirmed the death of a 56-year-old Nigerian from the coronavirus pandemic.
The state commissioner for health, Akin Abayomi, disclosed this via a post on Twitter.
The commissioner said the death of the 56-year-old who recently returned from the United States of America puts the state’s mortality rate at six.
“A 56-year-old Nigerian who recently returned from the United States has died of coronavirus-related complications. This brings the total number of #COVID19 related deaths in Lagos to six.”

Abayomi further stated that Lagos has recorded three more cases of the virus, making it 192 in the state, adding that 61 patients have so far been discharged as at Tuesday afternoon.
“13 new cases of COVID-19 infection confirmed. The total number of confirmed cases in Lagos is now 192. The total number of #COVID19 patients that have recovered and discharged is now 61,” he added.
The commissioner went on to enjoin residents of the state to adhere to the social distancing directive among other measures introduced to combat spread of the killer virus.
“I urge Lagos residents to remain on alert across communities and obey instructions aimed at containing the spread of #COVID-19 infection,” the health commissioner added.

Recall that the NCDC had on Monday night, confirmed 20 new cases of the pandemic which puts the number of Nigeria’s active cases at 343 with 10 deaths.
