2027: Prince Dan Onah declines appointment, reaffirms commitment to Ogoja/Yala aspirations
Prince Dan Onah has opted to remain focused on grassroots engagements and political consultations in Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency despite being considered for appointment as Director of the Hydrocarbon Agency.
His media team disclosed this in a statement on Monday, calling on supporters and stakeholders across Ukelle, Ogoja, and Yala to remain calm and avoid speculations over the development.
According to the statement, Onah expressed appreciation to the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, for finding him worthy of consideration for the position.

The statement described the governor’s gesture as a demonstration of confidence in the capacity and contributions of sons and daughters of the constituency.
It, however, noted that after extensive consultations and careful reflection, Onah decided to remain committed to ongoing grassroots mobilization, community development efforts, and political engagements aimed at advancing the collective interests of the Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.
“At this crucial moment in our political journey, the desire of the people of Ukelle for greater inclusion and effective national representation must remain our overriding focus,” the statement read.
The media team said the decision should not be interpreted as a rejection of public service but rather as a commitment to an existing mandate and responsibility to the people who have continued to repose confidence in his leadership.
It added that the quest for stronger national representation for Ukelle requires unity, sacrifice, strategic thinking, and sustained commitment from stakeholders.
The statement further urged supporters and well-wishers to remain united and focused on advancing the political and developmental aspirations of Ukelle and the entire Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.
According to the media team, building consensus and solidarity among the people remains critical to achieving meaningful representation and sustainable development in the constituency.
