Why I stopped going to church – Daddy Freeze opens up

Daddy Freeze shares reason he stopped going to church.

Controversial media personality, Daddy Freeze, has revealed the personal experience that made him stop attending church. Speaking on The Honest Bunch podcast, he recounted a moment of emotional rejection by his former church leadership that led him to question his place in the Christian community.

According to Daddy Freeze, his decision came after a disappointing interaction with his pastor following his divorce. He explained that after hours of counselling, the pastor urged him and his ex-wife to reconcile, a suggestion he firmly rejected. Not long after, he was disinvited from a church event he had been scheduled to anchor, supposedly due to controversy surrounding his marital issues.

He said, “I used to be a church boy. Then, when I had my divorce, my pastor sat me and my ex down. After two hours, they said, ‘You guys should get back together.’ I told them I was done. A few days later, I was called to introduce a pastor at an event. I prepared, only to be told to step down because of controversy. I felt rejected.”

Daddy Freeze compared his situation to the biblical woman at the well in John 4, pointing out that despite her complicated past, Jesus still allowed her to share the gospel. “Why are you rejecting me?” he questioned, reflecting on how the church treated him.

He added that things got worse when he was advised to sit at the back of the church due to his failed marriage. “They said because my marriage didn’t work, I should sit at the back. Did I kill someone or get caught with drugs? It didn’t make sense.”

Eventually, the rejection pushed him away from the church. During that period, he took time to deeply study the Bible and even explored scripture in its original languages. He said this opened his eyes to many truths and gave him a deeper understanding of the Word.
