Vinícius or Bellingham: Who should win 2024 Ballon d’Or?
Recently, there have been debates of who will win the 2023-24 Ballon d’Or between Kylian Mbappé, Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Jr.
However, after an amazing season in which the Spanish giants dominated La Liga and most recently won a record 15th Champions League title, it seems to be a clear battle between Real Madrid teammates Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Jr.
But who deserves it more between the Englishman and the Brazilian?? Crispng makes the case for both superstars.
When Los Blancos defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0 at Wembley to lift the UCL title on June 1st, both players combined their brilliance to score their team’s second goal after Ian Maatsen made a careless pass.
In particular, Bellingham has excelled greatly in his debut season in Spain, quickly winning over the supporters and taking the lead in the team.
Although Jude Bellingham is still a rookie in the Spanish capital and has not yet fully established himself, he has accomplished more than the Cristiano Ronaldo achieved and that is winning the champions league in his first season at Madrid.
The Englishman has contributed to Madrid’s success on an individual basis this season as well. He assisted 13 goals and scored 23 in 42 matches across all competitions for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

The euros 2024 will also present him more opportunity to make his case and become the first player from England to win the Ballon d’Or since Michael Owen in 2001 and luckily for him, England has been dubbed the favourites for the competition.
On the other hand, over the past few years, Vinicius Jr. has become a household name and has improved with every passing season. Even though the Brazilian has experienced multiple incidents of racial harassment in Spain, he still performs on the biggest platform.
And as it stands now, Vinicius Jr., looks like the favorite to win the biggest individual award in football. He scored in the final against Dortmund and had an outstanding performance in the second leg of the semi-final against Bayern Munich. Just this season alone, he scored a total of 24 goals and provided 11 assists.
Like Bellingham in the Euros, Vinicius will also compete in the Copa America this summer and if he leads Brazil to victory there, he will likely be hard to top.
With Jude Bellingham winning the LaLiga player of the season and UCL young player of the season while Vinícius Jr. went home with the UCL player of the year award, it seems the only thing to separate the two will be their performances in their various continental competition coming up in few days time.
