Nigeria’s Super Falcons delivered a commanding 5-0 victory against Zambia in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on July 18, 2025, at Larbi Zaouli Stadium, advancing to the semifinals in their pursuit of a 10th continental title.
The match saw Nigeria take control early, with Osinachi Ohale opening the scoring just two minutes in, heading in a corner from Toni Payne. The Super Falcons maintained their dominance, and Esther Okoronkwo doubled the lead in the 33rd minute with a clinical finish from a pinpoint cross by captain Rasheedat Ajibade. Chinwendu Ihezuo sealed the win in the 45th minute, slotting home a precise pass from goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who showcased her distribution skills by joining the attack. The same energy of the Super Falcons was repeated in the second half with the fourth goal coming in 68th minute from Demehin strike with an assist from Okonrokwo and the fifth goal was scored by Ijamilusi in the 1st minute of second half extra time with assist from Ajibade.
