Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles B team will take on Sudan in their second group stage match of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 6:00 PM Nigerian time. The match, set to be played in Zanzibar, will be broadcast live on SuperSport on DSTV, beIN Sport, and SABC Sport, offering fans multiple viewing options.
Coming off a 1-0 loss to defending champions Senegal in their opening group game, the Super Eagles B are under pressure to secure a victory against Sudan to keep their hopes alive in Group C, which also includes Congo. Sudan started their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Congo, making this clash pivotal for both teams’ advancement prospects. Nigeria’s squad, composed entirely of players from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), qualified for the tournament after overcoming Ghana in a two-legged “Jollof Derby,” drawing 0-0 and 2-2.

The Super Eagles B prepared for CHAN with a training camp in Zanzibar from July 25 to July 31, playing two friendly matches against the hosts, both ending in 2-2 draws. Despite their bronze medal in 2014 and a runner-up finish in 2018, Nigeria’s recent CHAN performances have been inconsistent, with a group stage exit in 2016 and failure to qualify in 2021 and 2023. Coach Eric Chelle, who has defended his selection of players from clubs like Remo Stars and Rivers United, expressed optimism about the team’s potential, with midfielder Michael Tochukwu highlighting a “positive spirit” in the squad.
Sudan, meanwhile, will look to capitalize on their draw against Congo and exploit Nigeria’s early tournament setback. Fans are hopeful, with some expressing confidence on social media that the Super Eagles B can reach the knockout stage. The outcome of this match will be critical as Nigeria aims to reclaim continental glory in a tournament restricted to domestic league players.
