Some students and teachers at the college of Agriculture and Animal Health in Bakura, Zamfara State have been abducted by gunmen.
Aliyu Bakura, the deputy registrar of the college, disclosed this in an interview with BBC.
“Last Sunday night around 10pm they entered and opened fire and took away 15 students, a teacher, and his wife and two children,” he said.
He added: “This is not the first time bandits will kidnap students from schools in Zamfara.
The northern part of the country has continued to witness increased cases of kidnappings of schoolchildren. The development has led to the closure of many schools in the region.
On February 26, bandits invaded Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe, Zamfara state and kidnapped many female students but were later released after weeks in custody.
Many of the kidnapped students in northern schools are still in custody of bandits.
