Somalia, Nigeria, Ghana top the African list of Trump’s deportation move…see full list

In pursuance of President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration, recent data from the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has emerged and has equally identified one million, four hundred and forty-five thousand, five hundred and forty-nine (1,445,549) persons as “illegal immigrants” set for deportation by the US government.
Recall that deportation of illegal immigrants was part of the executive orders President Donald Trump signed on his first day in office, as the 47th president of America. He has started immediate execution of his words.
According to the U.S Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s document dated November 2024, about forty thousand, one hundred and seventy-two persons (40172) are Africans from forty-seven (47) African countries.

While Mexico tops the overall lists of countries set for deportation on final order of removal with two hundred and fifty-two thousand and forty-four (252,044) persons, Somalia tops the African list with four thousand and ninety (4090) persons.
Mauritania comes second with three thousand, eight hundred and twenty-two persons (3,822), and Nigeria makes the top three African countries with three thousand, six hundred and ninety (3,690) persons. The individuals found on this list are set to be deported by the Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO).
Though this is sad news for many, especially victims of the deportation, many persons have drummed their support for President Trump on the issue.
Yesterday, Selena Gomez was fiercely attacked when a video of her emotional breakdown over the deportation was spotted on her Instagram account. The backlash was so much that the popular singer was pushed to delete the video from her account.
Meanwhile, a Nigerian man identified as Victor Nwoko shared his take on the issue. According to him, support for President Trump among Nigerians over the deportation saga is rooted in a combination of religious conservatism, economic envy, and cultural inclination to authoritarianism even when the policies adversely impact their fellow countrymen.
He further stated that “This admiration is a reflection of broader societal attitudes in Nigeria, where traditionalism, deference to hierarchy, and a preference for strong, decisive leadership often outweigh democratic ideals.”
Another professor, Moses Ochonu, also added that misinformation, culture cringe, racial unawareness, and wilful ignorance are behind responsible factors affecting those who are supporting the Donald Trump deportation move in Nigeria.
However, whatever the reactions of people towards this, Donald Trump has made his decision, and it’s a clear thing that Trump is not a man influenced by sentiment or emotive words. This could be seen from his reply to the bishop that pleaded on the case of LGBT and illegal immigrants.
Until there is an official announcement that would counter the crackdown on illegal immigrants, the “Go home, illegal immigrants” order still stands.
