Solid Star quits smoking, alcohol consumption… see why you should also quit

Not long ago, footage emerged online showing singer Joshua Iniyezo, also known as Solid Star, appearing disheveled and wandering aimlessly on the streets.

His brother Joseph, who shared the video, revealed that Solid Star was battling drug addiction and suffering its consequences.

However, in a recent interview, Solid Star refutes these claims, asserting that he has overcome his addiction and no longer partakes in such substances. He emphasized his current state of wellness, stating that he has been out of the hospital for four months and is diligently following his medication regimen.

Renouncing smoking and alcohol, he declared a commitment to a healthier lifestyle and a renewed focus on his music career.

He said, “I am very well and healthy now. I have been out of hospital for four months but I am still taking my medication. I no longer smoke or drink alcohol. I keep everything plain now. I am doing very fine; working to make the world dance again with the good vibe I always bring. I have a studio at my place, and I am ready for my fans. I have been working tirelessly to ensure I present quality music like I always do.”

Asked about the lessons he learnt during his ordeal, the ‘Omotena’ singer said, “I have learnt not to always be by myself because communication is very important. I was always by myself, so I became depressed, and I started seeing people around me as enemies. I have learnt to love and be positive.”

On if he got support from his colleagues during his low moments, he said, “Yes, I received support from friends, colleagues, fans and family. As a matter of fact, their support made my stay at the hospital comforting, and I appreciate all of them for their support. If not for their support, I would have had a terrible stay at the hospital. But, I was able to pay my bills and eat good meals because of them.”

Here are some reasons why you should consider stopping smoking and alcohol consumption:

Health Risks: Both smoking and excessive alcohol consumption are linked to a multitude of health risks, including cardiovascular diseases, cancer, liver diseases, and respiratory problems. Quitting can significantly reduce the chances of developing these health issues.

Longevity: Smoking and heavy alcohol use are associated with reduced life expectancy. By quitting, you increase your chances of living a longer and healthier life.

Financial Savings: Both habits can be expensive, especially in the long run. Quitting can save you a substantial amount of money that can be better spent on other priorities or saved for the future.

Improved Mental Health: Alcohol and nicotine can have negative effects on mental health, contributing to anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders. Quitting can lead to improved mental well-being.

Enhanced Physical Fitness: Smoking impairs lung function and decreases physical endurance, while excessive alcohol consumption can lead to muscle weakness and coordination issues. Quitting can lead to improved physical fitness and overall vitality.

Better Relationships: Smoking and heavy drinking can strain relationships with friends, family, and romantic partners. Quitting can improve communication, trust, and overall relationship satisfaction.

Reduced Risk of Accidents: Both smoking and alcohol consumption impair judgment and coordination, increasing the risk of accidents and injuries. Quitting can lead to safer behavior and a lower likelihood of accidents.

Positive Role Modeling: Quitting smoking and reducing alcohol consumption sets a positive example for others, especially children and young adults, who may be influenced by your behavior.

Overall, quitting smoking and reducing alcohol consumption can lead to numerous benefits for both physical and mental health, as well as improving overall quality of life.
