The award-winning Nigerian musical, ‘Saro, The Musical,’ marked its 10th-anniversary extravaganza at the Terra Kulture Theatre in Victoria Island, Lagos, on the 23rd of December, 2o23. Bolanle Austen-Peters Productions (BAP), the creative force behind the musical, received tremendous support from the MTN Foundation and other brand sponsors, adding glamor to the celebration.

‘Saro, The Musical’ stands as a vibrant testament to the richness of Nigerian arts and culture, unfolding the stories of those who migrated to Lagos from different parts of Nigeria in pursuit of economic opportunities in the city.



Against the backdrop of modern-day Lagos, the musical delves into the challenges faced by four ambitious young men striving for fame and fortune in the “city of dreams.” Adorned in flashy outfits showcasing the best of Nigerian fashion, the cast and crew delivered a captivating performance. The well-coordinated dance sequences and a fusion of African sounds with hip-hop, jazz, Juju, and Apala left the audience cheering and clamoring for an encore.

Bolanle Austen-Peters, the Executive Producer and Director, shared her sentiments at the event, expressing appreciation for the collective journey portrayed in “Saro.” She acknowledged the influx of young talents into Lagos, echoing the essence of the musical in capturing the city’s essence. Austen-Peters extended gratitude to sponsors, particularly recognizing the indispensable support of the MTN Foundation.



Odunayo Sanya, the Executive Secretary of the MTN Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s unwavering commitment to nurturing young talents in the country. She reiterated the MTN Foundation’s dedication to supporting youth for national development and enhancing overall productivity.

Distinguished guests from sponsor organizations and well-wishers attended the event, including Odunayo Sanya, a significant supporter of “Saro Musical” as the executive secretary of the MTN Foundation.

Participant Mr. Peter Johnson shared his enthusiasm, stating, “African culture has always been interesting and enlightening.” His attendance was driven by a deep love for Nigerian and African cultures.
