The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has witnessed a significant change in its leadership with the appointment of Ola Olukoyede as Chairman and Muhammad Hammajoda as Secretary by President Bola Tinubu.

According to a statement released on Thursday and signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Mr. Olukoyede’s appointment comes in the wake of the resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.



Olukoyede’s extensive background in regulatory compliance, fraud management, and corporate intelligence makes him a standout choice for the position of EFCC Chairman. With over 22 years of experience, he not only fulfills the statutory requirements for the role but also brings a wealth of expertise to the table.

Qualifications and Experience



  • Olukoyede’s impressive journey in the EFCC includes serving as the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman from 2016 to 2018.
  • He took on the role of Secretary to the Commission from 2018 to 2023, showcasing his dedication and commitment to the organization.
  • He studied at Lagos State University; University of Lagos; Institute of Arbitration ICC – Paris, France, and the University of Harvard (Kennedy School of Executive Education).
  • Olukoyede was born in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on October 14, 1969.
  • He is a member of the Fraud Advisory Panel (UK) and also a member of the Federal Government Technical Committee on the Repositioning of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit.
  • Olukoyede is a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).
