Patience Ozokwor to UNN students: Avoid premarital sex, keep your dignity
Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor urged students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, to avoid premarital sex and instead make Jesus their first love.
She gave this admonition during a Valentine’s day program held on Wednesday at UNN, where she was a guest minister.
The program which was held in one of the University’s halls was organised by a fellowship known as the Gideonite Squad to teach youths how to exercise love in a Godly way.
Speaking on the topic titled “Awaken Love,” she emphasized that the best and greatest love one can ever experience is the love of Christ. Citing an example from the book of John, chapter 3, verse 16, which says, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life,” she remarked, “This is one of the Bible verses we held dear while growing up.”
She further implored the congregation to take pride in their virginity and protect it with their lives.
“Don’t let anybody who is not your husband have access to your body, all in the name of love. The devil only gives you a moment of pleasure in exchange for your life. To have a moment of pleasure or to have a life you will enjoy forever in Christ, which one will you rather choose?”
Also, she boasted of her dignity even as an actress in the Nollywood industry. She told the congregation to inquire about her if they doubted her.
“Go and ask; I have never slept with anyone to get a role in the Nollywood industry. I’ve kept my dignity up till date. Instead, I punish those who perpetrate such acts,” she added.
She extended her ministration by saying one can show love without anything attached to it. Showing love is one of the ways God blesses men. However, it should be God’s described love, which is unconditional. She backed this with a reading from the book of 1st Corinthians 13:1, which reads thus: “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.”
Mrs Patience also told the congregation which is made of youths to be rooted in Christ and not to allow anyone to pressure them from attaining salvation. They could be the reason why their parents will attain salvation if they can be able to lead them to Christ.
She ended her teaching by making an altar call and many who were blessed by teaching gave their life to Christ.
