Oyedepo: Anyone against the rise of the church will die
The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Worldwide, David Oyedepo, has again canvassed for the reopening of churches across the country amid government’s ban on religious gatherings.
In a latest live broadcast to members of his congregation, the 65-year-old clergy man said the continued closure of churches could bring about what he termed “spiritual famine” which is deadlier than the COVID-19 pandemic and hunger.
His words: “The doors to churches across nations are again declared opened this morning. Can I tell you this? Hunger is far more devastating than any virus that will ever visit the earth.
“It kills silently. There is no vaccine for hunger. There is no medical solution to hunger. Hunger has no treatment than to have food and spiritual famine is far more devastating.”
He went on to warn against those trying to stifle the growth of the church, noting such people would die if they continue with their sinister mission against Christians.
He added: “That is what the devil is looking for but he has failed. The church is back on its feet. Anyone who hates to see that dies for it.
“The church of Christ on the earth is liberated. Spiritual famine shall not have its way. Can I tell the world, no one has the answer to a problem like Jesus.”
The cleric’s claim is coming few days after he had criticised the Nigerian government for closing down churches while markets remain open across the country.
Both the federal and state governments had among other measures introduced ban on social as well as religious gatherings to combat spread of the killer virus.
