Overspeeding, no life jacket… why Junior Pope died in boat accident

It’s no longer news that the popular Nollywood movie star, Junior Pope Odonwodo‘s life was cut short when boat capsized in the Anam River in Anambra State when returning from a film location. 

The 39-year-old’s death has been associated with the reckless behavior of boat drivers seeking to impress, ultimately leading to a fatal collision. 

Stanley, an eyewitness and fellow movie producer, disclosed the harrowing details, highlighting the drivers’ careless maneuvers as they attempted a risky “cruise” on the sea. 

Their reckless swerving in an attempt to showcase their skills led to the devastating collision, claiming not only Junior Pope’s life but also those of other crew members. 

Adding to the tragedy, the production crew’s failure to provide adequate safety measures like life jackets, leaving everyone onboard vulnerable to the dangers of the sea. Stanley’s admission underscores the gravity of negligence in ensuring the safety of all involved, highlighting a profound lack of responsibility on the part of those entrusted with the well-being of the crew.
