Nnadozie, others dominate in 2024 CAF awards nominations, see categories
Chiamaka Nnadozie, the Nigerian Super Falcon and Paris FC goal keeper has made it to the final shortlisted nominations for the 2024 Confederation of African Football Awards coming up in December 16. This year nomination celebrated Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football, with the Super Falcons, their players and coach making headways across multiple categories.
Chiamaka Nnadozie was nominated for Women’s Player of the Year, becoming the only goal keeper to be in a category that has been dominated by attacking players for long, recognizing her outstanding club performances for Paris FC and her leadership during international matches.
Nnadozie, whose heroics included crucial saves in international matches like the recent friendly played against the Les Bleues of France few weeks ago and in the UEFA Women Champions League, was also shortlisted for Goalkeeper of the Year, the award which she won previously in the 2023 edition.

Asides, Nnadozie in the Young stars female category Chiamaka Okwuchukwu of Rivers Angels earned Young Player of the Year nominations, this goes to demonstrate the country’s rising talent and the incredible role in building potentials for the sport.
Moreover, in the coaching category for the 2024 CAF awards, Nigeria again made an appearance in the final shortlist with Chris Danjuma, the U-20s Super Falconets coach was instrumental in developing youth teams that excelled at international tournaments.
To further show the country’s dominace in the 2024 edition of the award, the Nigerian female team which is the Super Falcon was among the final shortlist for the category of best national team of the year and the Edo Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League who had shown standout performances in the CAF Women Champions League was nominated for the best female club of the year.
Nigeria’s nominations emphasize the country’s impact on African football in 2024, driven by both seasoned professionals like Nnadozie and emerging talents Okwuchukwu. This reflects the Super Falcons’ consistency in blending experience and youth, as well as their ability to shine on the continental and global stages.
