‘Lionel is the best 9, 10, 11, 7, 6, 5, 4’—Guardiola rubbishes Messi-Aguero comparison
Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola has played down comparison between Barcelona ace, Lionel Messi and his striker, Sergio Aguero.
Aguero has continued his sublime goal-scoring record, racking up another hat-trick on Sunday as his side went rampant against struggling Aston Villa.
Sunday’s goals took his tally in the English Premier League (EPL) to 177, a record only bettered by Wayne Rooney (208) and Alan Shearer (260).
While Pep acknowledged the impressive record of his star player, he was quick to dismiss placing him in the same category with Messi, considered by some as the all-time greatest player on earth.
“The best is Messi,” Guardiola was quoted as saying by Goal.
“Messi is [the best] number nine, number 10, number 11, number seven, number six, number five, number four…
“But Sergio, [among] the rest, he is certainly one of them. I said many times, he will die scoring goals. It is his talent.”
