LAAF & ECF Donate Relief Packages to 2,000 Male Inmates Through Hope for Christmas Outreach at Ikoyi Prison
Life After Abuse Foundation (LAAF), in partnership with Esther’s Company Fellowship (ECF), donated relief packages to 2,000 male inmates at Ikoyi Prison, 20–27 Ribadu Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria, during the 4th Edition of the Hope for Christmas Prison Outreach held on Saturday, 20 December 2025.
The initiative focused on restoring dignity, providing essential relief, and offering emotional support to incarcerated men during the festive season.
The program commenced with opening remarks from Edinyanga Enang, who highlighted the importance of compassion, empathy, and community engagement, emphasizing that no one should be forgotten during the festive season, regardless of their circumstances.
The outreach primarily involved the donation of relief packages, which included essential toiletries and personal care items to improve the daily living conditions of the inmates. This humanitarian effort reflects the organizations’ commitment to promoting the wellbeing of vulnerable populations and ensuring that even those in confinement feel valued and cared for.
In addition to the donations, the outreach included psychosocial and emotional support activities, such as sensitization on Healthy Masculinity, access to free therapy and mental health support, and empowerment sessions aimed at fostering self-awareness, resilience, and positive behavioral change among the inmates.
The program featured a structured agenda, beginning with an opening prayer led by Lola Awakan, followed by worship and praise sessions facilitated by Bukola Olokode and Ijeoma Isaac, and a word ministration delivered by Femi Sanni. An empowerment session led by Babajide Ogunleye reinforced messages of personal growth and hope beyond incarceration.
The outreach concluded with closing remarks, thanksgiving, and a mental health session led by Ololade Awaye, emphasizing emotional wellbeing, coping strategies, and self-reflection.
Halima Layeni, Founder and Executive Director of Life After Abuse Foundation, and Munirat Layeni, Convener of Esther’s Company Fellowship, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all donors, partners, friends, and volunteers whose generosity made the donation of relief packages and the success of the outreach possible. Special appreciation is also extended to the prison authorities at Ikoyi Prison for granting access and offering a warm reception during the visit.
LAAF and ECF remain committed to providing holistic, humanitarian interventions that restore dignity, promote healing, and empower individuals to rebuild their lives.
