Kylian Mbappe has turned the tide at Real Madrid, proving his doubters wrong with a match-winning brace in a dramatic 3-2 victory over Leganes on March 29, 2025, at the Santiago Bernebeu. The French superstar, who faced mockery earlier this season for a slow start following his sensational move from Paris Saint-Germain, delivered a performance that reaffirmed his status as one of football’s biggest talents.

Kylian Mbappe heroics

Mbappe opened the scoring in the 32nd minute from a penalty kick, calmly putting it at the back of the net in a Paneka style, slotting it past Leganes goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic. However, the visitors stunned the reigning champions with quickfire goals from Diego García and Dani Raba, taking a 2-1 lead into halftime. Jude Bellingham equalized early in the second half, but it was Mbappe who stole the show in the 76th minute, curling a superb free kick strike to secure the win and keep Real Madrid level with Barcelona atop La Liga with 63 points.

The 26-year-old’s resurgence has been remarkable. After scoring just six goals in his first 12 La Liga games, Mbappe has now netted 15 in his last 15 across all competitions, with his brace against Leganes bringing his season tally to 33 goals in 44 appearances. “People doubted him at first, but Mbappe is showing why he’s here.”

Once criticized for missed chances, Kylian Mbappe is now the heartbeat of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad, his dribbling ability and finishing shows the promise that made him a €180 million target. With this latest display, the Real Madrid faithfuls and those with admiration for him are once again chanting his name, celebrating the star they always knew he could be.
