Insecurity: Tension as another UNN student goes missing
A student of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), identified as Mr. George A. Nnaji, has gone missing without a trace. This occurred on the same day a female student on campus was reportedly kidnapped, with a ransom demanded for her release, increasing tension on campus.
Mr. George, a 300-level student in the Department of Combined Arts, has been missing since Sunday morning, 14th July 2024, after allegedly going to work and not returning.
Reacting to this incident, his course representative, Miss Ruth Oluchi, said that she reached out to him on Monday evening, a day after he went missing, through a phone call. She noted that he initially answered the call and told her that he was fine and was only at his family house.
However, she added that when she dialed the number again, it was no longer him but another voice who claimed to know nothing about George, leaving her in a state of confusion and panic.
The family has confirmed that he is not at their family house, stating that the young man is still missing. In a conversation with Crisp Nigeria, his elder brother, Mr. Patrick Nnaji, maintained that Mr. George was still missing and that they have already involved student welfare and the police to look into the matter. He noted that George went missing after his parents gave him school fees.
“He went missing since Sunday after he was given school fees to pay. He is not at the family house. We are all worried; my mom and dad are already in a panic attack,” he noted.

When asked what might have led to this, Mr. Patrick explained that he has never trusted his brother’s actions since he entered school.
“Whatever he says on the phone is all lies. He has been lying to all of us. If there is any way you can find out the truth from him, please do, for God’s sake. He was sent to school to study, but he has not been going to classes all this while. He is living a fake life over there. Right now he is missing, and we want him back, please,” he lamented.
He also told Crisp Nigeria that he had gone to where George stayed at Onuiyi to see if he could get any information about his whereabouts, but there has been no success yet. He therefore urged the public to help the family with any information that could lead them to him.
The Faculty of Arts Students’ Association has also notified the general public through a memo dated 17th July 2024 about the sudden disappearance of Mr. George. The association noted that an investigation is already underway by the appropriate authorities. They are calling on anyone with relevant information about his whereabouts to report to the authorities to aid the investigation.
