The Lagos State police command has nabbed one Akinyemi Edgar Koja for allegedly strangling his wife Ajoke to death over her alleged adulterous acts, and then took to his heels after the incident.

According to media sources, the ugly incident took place at their apartment in Agemowo area of Badagry, last December.

Koja, a bricklayer was said to have killed his 28-year-old wife who was a graduate, and subsequently dumped her corpse inside a well within his area and subsequently disappeared into the thin air.

Prior to Ajoke’s death, it was gathered that there had been no love lost between the couple, as they often engage in quarrels.

Narrating how he allegedly killed his wife, Koja said: “ I strangled her at night while she was sleeping. She was sleeping around with other men because she felt I am a poor man and she did not hide it. That fateful night, I suffocated her with pillows . When I discovered she was dead, I dumped the body inside a well close to our apartment . I ran away to make it look like I was not around when the incident happened.”

According to a Vanguard report, the suspect was picked in an undisclosed area around Lagos Island , where he took refuge since the incident occurred.

Speaking while being interrogated by the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigations Department , Koja explained he killed his late wife for her alleged adulterous acts, which made him jealous.

The suspect was Tuesday charged before Magistrate’s Court 12, Ebute Meta, for murder, from where he was remanded in prison custody by the Magistrate, Mrs Bola Folarin Williams, with the case adjourned to March 28 for hearing.
