How persecutions, attacks forced me into exile – Nnamdi Kanu
IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu in Isreal
By Chinagorom Ugwu
The Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu has disclosed he absconded Nigeria because of the “persecution the Nigerian Government levied against him and the Movement of IPOB describing it as a “forced absence”.
The Biafran leader who stated this, Sunday Evening, during a live Broadcast via Radio Biafra also declared that nothing will happen in Nigeria until Referendum is conducted to determine the quest for self determination for Biafrans while reiterating the group’s resolve to liberate the Biafran land.
He said,” The consequences of my unavailability is as a result of the persecution the Nigerian state has levied against me and against the movement of IPOB. Let me state also categorically that IPOB worldwide is committed to the liberation of Biafra from the shackles of tyranny, and we will not relent until a referendum is conducted. If you want to us to do anything with you, if you want us to conduct any form of participation in whatever it is that you are doing, there must be a referendum to to determine the quest for self determination for Biafrans. That is our redlines. It is not negotiable”.
He also criticized the Binta Nyako’s Federal High Court for keeping quiet when the Nigerian army invaded his house desecrating the royal stool of his Father, who is a traditional ruler; noting that the attack claimed the lives of his Cousin, Adaku, their Dog, Jack and 28 others.
Mr. Kanu, who insisted that his “forced unavailability” deserved an evidential hearing in a competent Court, demanded for guarantee from international community so that the case can proceed smoothly adding that the case must be free of Executive Interference.
“The army, in contempt of court, came to kill me. Some of their media friends cleverly forget this fact. I was in my place preparing to go to Abuja for my case and they came to kill me. They even killed Jack, our dog, they killed my cousin, adaku and 28 others that died that very fateful day.
“Till now Binta Nyako’s Court is yet to hold a hearing about the circumstances or what led to the Nigerian army to come to my house to kill 28 people. I make bold to state that my forced unavailability in court deserves an evidential hearing in a competent court of law, not in a kangaroo court, where all the details will be ventilated to determine the legal impact of that very attack on my ablity to make self available in the court as required”.
While expressing surprise that the court could not protect him when the Nigerian Army invaded his Home and desecrated his father’s Royal stool, the Nigerian-British citizen denied ever Jumping bail arguing that Jumping Bail must be intentional and out of somebody’s volition to be justifiable.
“The notion that I jumped bail is a fallacy, a lie and a deceit. It is untenable in Law, Jumping bail for anybody that has a rudimentary understanding of of law, has to be intentional, it has to be out of somebody s volition. I did not jump bail” He maintained.
He also declared that there is nothing like Niger Delta, South South and South East, but Biafra saying that the Divide and Rule Tactics of the Colonial era perpetuated the historical Distortions.
He further alleged that little children are being registered in the north for the 2019 general elections declaring that “IPOB will not participate in such charade”. He sympathized with the immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, who is currently facing charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) promising that “I and All Biafrans stand with him in this hour of persecution by this same axis of evil that is persecuting Biafrans”.
Mr. Kanu warned that “anybody that shades the blood of single innocent Biafran will pay dearly for it. Any IPOB Family member that fell must be avenged all of them one after the other. And I assure it is going to happen, don’t say I didn’t warn you” adding that Nigeria cannot jail him because He has not committed offence against any law.
“Nigeria cannot jail me. I will fight this very case. No mortal flesh can kill me. They have not given birth to that very person. But, I shall return, I assure you. Since they didn’t want me to come to court, I will come back to Biafra land” He Boasted.
He commended Biafran faithful for their commitment and brave disposition in the battle of liberation assuring that they shall be rewarded with the coming of a “free Biafra” even as he urged Middle Belt to join IPOB so that the region could be free as well.
Kanu, who said he was speaking from Israel, described the Proscription of the IPOB and listing it as a terrorist organization as a farce threatening to return soon with Hell.
He Said, “The proscription of IPOB and its listing as a terrorist organization is a farce. Chukwu Okike Abiama has assured me that Biafra shall come, all collaborators will feel the full weight of the anger of the Biafran people. I am coming back to Biafra land soon and I will bring hell with me”.
