Family 101: How to make your relationship tick again during COVID-19 lockdown
By Euphemia Nwele
People’s relationship are affected by this pandemic, couples have to work from home now while still catering for their children, some persons are locked down alone; the social connection people had with friends, family and their environment is now limited.
Many people feel isolated now while others feel more connected to their household. Technological communication would, however, go a long way in bridging the gap between people and their loved ones in a time like this.
For people who are locked down with their spouse/family, take this time to invest and work on your relationship with your husband and children, make those clouds brighter, try understanding them, get to know your children, their likes and dislikes, how much they have grown, their friends, help them open up to talking to you.
Love is a two-way street so put in more efforts to loving and submitting to your spouse. Men, understand what marriage has changed in her, talk to her about those things that have been on your mind, talk to her do not avoid a conversation because when you do you are prone to looking for that conversion elsewhere and that is not good for your home.
Women, listen more, pay attention to your husband’s needs, wants and love language, learn new things about him and lovingly treat him all day long. Help him understand things you say and want.
This pandemic has given us all an uncalled holiday, but it would be unjust not to utilise this break in our relationships with people around us.
Those who are locked down alone, take this opportunity to learn new things, take online courses, take on that photography class online that you have always wanted to, read those books you have always wanted to read.
This pandemic has given us all an uncalled holiday, but it would be unjust not to utilise this break in our relationships with people around us.
Check in on your friends through social media outlets, communicate with them and pay attention to them. This pandemic is not easy on us all, but we will scale through and come out fine.
