Enugu Unity Forum berates Nsukka group over attack on Gov Ugwuanyi

By Chinonso Ugwu

A non-governmental organisation, Enugu Unity Forum (EUF) has berated Nsukka Peoples Vanguard for its continuous sectional sponsored attacks and undue criticisms of Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi’s administration on social media platforms, for not concentrating every infrastructural project and development in Nsukka.

Speaking to journalists in Enugu, President of the Forum, Engr. Greg Okolo, said that it is quite unfortunate and disheartening, that a pseudo group called Nsukka Peoples Vanguard, whose identity is still questionable has continued to champion divisive, clannish and sectional governance in Enugu on social media platforms, with its persistent attacks and calls on Governor Ugwuanyi to channel all the infrastructural projects of his government to Nsukka area.

According to Okolo, “Ugwuanyi was not elected governor of Nsukka but governor of Enugu state during his first and second term elections by the good people of Enugu, because of his track-record and performance in office as governor across the three senatorial zones in the state of which Enugu North (Nsukka) is among.”

He continued: “The good people of Enugu state are happy and supportive of Ugwuanyi’s administration, performance and leadership style, which has engendered more peace, unity, brotherhood and development across the state like never before.

“The absolute peace, we have enjoyed in Enugu today and the equitable distribution of appointments and infrastructural projects we have witnessed is because of Gov. Ugwuanyi’s fatherly and eclectic dispositions. The governor has unprecedentedly mended fences and built bridges across the state without minding whose ox is gored.

“We are highly expectant, supportive and optimistic that despite the obvious daunting challenges confronting his government, especially in the area of scarce resources, Ugwuanyi will definitely provide more infrastructural development, good governance and keep the state more united and peaceful than he met it before the expiration of his tenure in 2023.”

Okolo advised the group to eschew fanning the embers of discord in the state by making unguarded social media comments and posts against Ugwuanyi’s government, championing and promoting primitive, primordial, sectional and tribal leadership and development, that are capable of derailing the peace and progress of the state.

He further described Ugwuanyi as an exemplar in leadership, whose performance has raised the bar of governance in the state beyond imagination.
