Following the December 2024 crackdown on native doctors resolution by the Anambra State government, a popular native doctor, known as “Akwa Okuko tiwara Aki” is currently in detention after intense interrogation by the Deputy governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim.

Recall that part of the crack resolution was to flush out native doctors in the state who aid criminal activities according to the governor.

He also warned that anyone involved in such activity should desist from charms and other dubious rituals as the person will face the full music of the law.

Recently an online video of a lethal charm termed ‘Okeite’ which means ‘big pot’ was allegedly linked to Akwa Okuko. Upon investigation, Akwa Okuko denied any association with it alleging that the said video wasn’t made by him nor was he involved in the making of the Okeite.
Akwa Okuko also stated in an interrogation video released by Anambra State Media that he has stopped doing ‘Oke Ite’and it’s not a charm.
“I stopped doing ‘Oke Ite’ a long time ago. That thing is not a charm. We only called it ‘Oke Ite’ because we put it in a pot.”

However, he was detained by the security groups who demanded that he take them to his place where he carries out the activities.

According to Dr. Ibezim, he will remain under custody till proper investigations are fully carried out.

5 things to know about the famous Akwa Okuko

The real name of Akwa Okuko tiwara Aki is Chidozie Nwangwu. He is regarded as one of the strongest native doctors in Soutthe h East.

He hails from Oba, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, where he meets his clients and people seeking his help.

Akwa Okuko is a media-native doctor. Most of his acts are displayed on his Facebook page. He was apprehended on Saturday 8th February 2024, barely two months after Prof. Charles Soludo declared a crackdown on native doctors. 

He was once kidnapped from a hotel in July 2023. The incident led to the death of his two aides and raised doubt on his disappearing ability. He was later released after a ransom was paid by his family.

Akwa Okuku hides his relationship from the media but on one of his Facebook pages, he stated that he’s married.

Currently, a lot of persons especially IPOB are clamouring for his release from detention.

If Akwa Okuku is as strong as people say, why would he still be in detention? He should have disappeared from custody.
