 Crisis situations opportunity for 21st century organisational growth — Dr. Anyaegbudike 

Dr. Victor Anyaegbudike, the Manager of Communication for Chevron Nigeria Limited, has stated that crisis situations in the 21st century present a viable opportunity for organizational growth.

He made this statement while speaking as a guest lecturer during the 13th annual Jacksonite lecture hosted by the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.



Dr. Anyaegbudike, who is also a public relations expert, spoke on the topic “Corporate Organization, Public Relations, and Crisis Management”.

While speaking at the conference, Dr. Anyaegbudike stated that public relations plays a pivotal role in shaping the image and reputation of corporate organizations. He went on to establish a symbiotic relationship between public relations, corporate entities, and crisis management.

Dr. Anyaegbudike emphatically stated, “Public relations is not only about positive messaging but also about managing crises effectively.” He also highlighted that there is always an opportunity in every crisis, emphasizing that crisis periods provide opportunities for organizations to clarify their policies and promote themselves by managing crises effectively.



“Organizations that prioritize crisis preparedness, transparency, strategic communication, and stakeholder engagement can weather storms effectively,” he concluded.

The occasion witnessed a large turnout of students and staff of the department, who gathered to glean from the experience of the keynote speaker.

Dignitaries present at the event included the chairman of the occasion and former dean of the Faculty of Arts at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Nnanyelugo, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Emelda Okoro; the Head of the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Joseph Wogu; the departmental staff adviser, Dr. Ike Ugbor; the Igwe Ochiudo of Obukpa, Barr. R.S.N Eze; the Chairman of the local organizing committee, Prof. Michael Ukonu; and a host of the department’s members of staff.
